Day 33: February 2, 2014

Thankfulness for Lyrics

What I am about to post is not meant to be morose. Today is Sunday and it is always the day that I pull out all of my favorite songs which have meaningful lyrics to them for my life.

I have so many: Songs from Indigo Girls, Steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac, Norah Jones, Bob Marley, Ray LaMontagne, Jackson Browne, Everything But The Girl… and so many more.

Today’s song reminds me of myself and the song that represents my life. The fact that I want it played at my funeral is not depressing to me at all. It simply represents my ideals of being happy in everything, even the crap. It speaks to others about what I want for their lives.

“The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin’ Groovy)” – Simon and Garfunkel

Slow down, you move too fast.
You got to make the morning last.
Just kicking down the cobble stones.
Looking for fun and feelin’ groovy.

Hello lamppost,
What cha knowing?
I’ve come to watch your flowers growing.
Ain’t cha got no rhymes for me?
Doot-in’ doo-doo,
Feelin’ groovy.

Got no deeds to do,
No promises to keep.
I’m dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep.
Let the morning time drop all its petals on me.
Life, I love you,
All is groovy.

I love you, Life. All is groovy.

Love, Groovy Girl
