Thankfulness for Vindication
Today was a great day. I knew I had a big night tonight, and on a chemo week it’s tough to do much but rest, so I slept for a total of 7 hours… in between running kids to and from the National History Day Project State Competition at UNR.
We are so proud of Kate. Out of all of the students in her category (there were something like 35 I think) she got 2nd Place/Runner Up. She couldn’t have been happier and it felt vindicating compared to the District Level judging we encountered. There really isn’t anything we can do regarding that judging and the ridiculous justifications they had, but we don’t need to. Kate was judged fairly and she was on cloud nine. I was too, and the added bonus was the picture of her with Mark Twain (for those of you who don’t know, he is truly one of my favorite authors. I even wrote a blog post about having his babies posthumously. https://samesides.wordpress.com/2012/07/13/i-want-to-have-mark-twains-babies/). Additionally, Kate’s classmate won first place in her category and Clayton Middle School was represented big time. Shelley and Brian’s daughter Jackie and her group (including Terri Llamas’s daughter Jillian) won first place in the Performance category, as well as many other Clayton students, who get to travel to Washington D.C.
And then there was tonight at the 5 Star Saloon. Jed Spendlove, Juli Green, Tammy Borde and Our Hearts, Our Families, Our Community did a fundraiser Drag Queen show to help out my Three Little Birds and me. To say it was a blast is an understatement. My homies and I had VIP service and I am so blessed to have so many caring people in my life. All That Glitters was a great show. Thanks so much Jed, Juli, Tammy and Our Hearts.
I am always wowed at how things work out in life. Happy to be home after so many good things today. I can’t wait to see what is in store for me tomorrow.
Don’t forget: Aura Salon & Spa is doing their Fundraiser Cut-A-Thon from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow (Sunday). Go to it. Awesome Aveda salon service at a fraction of the cost, which all monies go toward helping us out for the next several months.
