Media Frenzy

Well folks, have lots to report.  Media stuff happening all over the place and I want to make you aware of a few things.

1)  The most recent installment of our column “Samesides” just came out in the February issue of the Reno Tahoe Tonight magazine.  Devon had his turn again and he is becoming even more transparent with each issue.  I’m so proud of him.  Click below and turn to page 86.  Give him some feedback.  Our lives are awesome.

2)  There will be a radio interview tomorrow on my friend Sean Savoy’s show called “Higher Calling.”  A gentleman who runs a counseling service and ministry for LGBT individuals who are trying to reconcile their Christian faith with their homosexuality will be interviewed.  His name is Dr. Matthew Clark and his counseling services are offered on line from Michigan at www.gaychristiantherapy.com/.  The show will air at 10 a.m. on KJFK 1230AM here in Reno, Nevada. Tune in “live stream” at the KJFK web site at www.1230kjfk.com. You can download the Tunein app on your iPhone or Android and search for KJFK in Reno. Even if House of Savoy is not listed, the show will be airing at 10 a.m. Pacific Time.

3)  The incredibly awesome charter school that I teach at just announced that it will need to close it’s doors permanently after this semester.  I am very sad, and so are the students.  There is still a small ounce of hope, however.  If we can raise $200,000, there is a chance we can keep it going.  Rainshadow Community Charter School serves an at-risk population with gifted students, artsy students, bullied and rejected young adults and students who would not be able to graduate unless they attend here.  Nevada has one of the lowest graduation rates in the nation, and closing the school will not help our state and the students here.  Please consider helping us out.  Every little bit counts.  We have set up a Kickstarter account, and you should be able to find it here:  http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/rainshadow/stevewestsfundraisingpage.  If you have trouble finding it, use the search engine and type in Rainshadow Community Charter School Reno.  Let me know if you can’t find it.

Thanks for reading and clicking, y’all.  Life is awesome and expecting the best when experiencing life helps you to see the best in everything.

Blessings,

Emily and Devon Reese

The #1 Question Asked

ImageThe third installment of our column Same Sides just came out digitally in the Reno Tahoe Tonight magazine.  It’s called “The Announcement” and in it I answer the question that we get asked the most:  How did your kids handle everything?

Click on the link below and turn to page 82.  Read it, but don’t weep.  We’re not.  We’re smiling and so are the kids.  Like, all the time.

Also, tune in this Saturday, January 5, 2013, to KJFK 1230AM radio for the House of Savoy Show.  Devon, myself and Kathy Baldock (founder of Canyon Walker Connections) are interviewed about our story and LGBT issues in the Christian world.  You can also listen to the live streaming of it via internet at the same time at www.1230kjfk.com.  It was a beautiful interview and Sean Savoy is an amazing man.  Find him at www.seansavoy.com.

Blessings and Transparency,

Emily and Devon
